I am holding down the “W” key and scrolling the mouse wheel forward but my speed is not increasing.
If Perspective gets “stuck” at a specific speed, simply release the “W” key and repress it or any of the other motion keys. The mouse wheel should now increase or decrease your speed.
How do I print an image from Perspective?
Once you have the image you want in Perspective, hit the print screen button on your keyboard. This will copy the screen to a clipboard. Open a photo editing program such as Microsoft™ Paint and select Edit ? Paste. From there you can manipulate the image and save it.
When I start Perspective, I get an error message saying “Render creation method failed.”
Make sure all other 3D programs are closed. It is necessary that your available virtual memory exceeds the size of your Perspective scene. If this still does not fix the problem, try restarting your computer.
How do I control the lighting in the scene?
All of the lighting for a scene is controlled in the 3D modeling program. At the moment Perspective has a limit of only being able to render 8 lights at a time. More than 8 lights can be modeled and exported out to Perspective, however; only 8 will be visible at a time.
When I clone an object and then try to position it, it moves in the opposite direction I chose.
If this happens, it means that the parent object has been moved. In order to move a clone properly, the parent must be in its original position. If moving it in this manner is too troublesome, delete the clone and its parent and start over without moving the parent.
I don’t understand why my toolbar icons are grayed out when I am navigating in the render window.
When the focus switches from the scene structure to the render window the toolbar icons become inactive because they only work on the object tags in the scene structure. You will notice then when you switch focus back to your scene structure, all of the icon will become active.
My textures used to work fine in Perspective and now they are not showing up.
Make sure that all of your materials have a unique name. Max and Viz sometimes have trouble when you copy materials in the Material Editor and neglect to give them original names. Check your Material Editor, save your work, and then restart Max or Viz.
When I export my model, it looks as if it has been exploded in Perspective, or certain objects are thrown way out in space.
Make sure none of your textures have Mapscale Binding on them. This feature is not supported in Perspective. To get the same effect, use the box setting under UVW map and enter the same scale for length, width, and height that was used in the mapscale binding.
When I export my model, certain textures look as if they have been washed out and appear white from certain angles.
If you are using a standard shader from Max, check to see if the specular level is above 50. Perspective does not support all features of the standard shaders. Try reducing the amount to under 50 or use the Perspective shader to achieve the desired results.
