Vantage Point Technologies

Vantage Point Technologies (VPT) started in early 2000 with a 3D tool to assist cities in managing their master plan and to help in evaluating new developments coming into the city. VPT entered into an arrangement with the City of Birmingham, Michigan to help manage the development of 100 acres of their downtown area. Soon afterwards, Birmingham adopted Vantage Point into their ordinance requiring all new developments coming into the downtown area to submit a 3D model for approval. The reason for this requirement was that the city discovered the use of the 3D model resulted in an efficient evaluation of the development and produced quicker approval which ultimately saved developers time and money.

It soon became clear that there existed an opportunity to assist developers and architects in communicating their designs more clearly with their clients. To better meet this opportunity, Vantage Point developed Perspective, a virtual reality viewer that converts 3D CAD data into a real-time environment where the user can navigate the development as they would walk around it in real life.

Developers now use Perspective to help communicate their project to planning commissions and prospective clients. Architects use Perspective to relate to their clients in a simple, clear, and readily understandable manner. DDA’s, like Commerce Township, Michigan, are using Perspective to communicate to their own planning commission as well as to their residents. Perspective has spread across the development board as an efficient communication tool that will allow you to reach your audience in a clear and simple way, resulting in a universal understanding of the project.
